Tucker feels so much better!

I took all three kittens to the vet this past Monday, and they were diagnosed with a viral infection.  Tucker had it the worst of all three; her poor little eyes were almost continually shut and goopy.  She never played and slept almost 24/7.  The vet gave them all an oral antibiotic and eye drops. … Continue reading Tucker feels so much better!

Teddy’s 22!

My oldest son, Teddy, is 22 years old today.  I couldn't be more proud of the generous, loving, hardworking, kind hearted man he's become.   He's a great brother to his sisters and brother... He's a loyal and loving husband to his wife... He's funny and thoughtful... And he's got just enough goofiness to keep … Continue reading Teddy’s 22!

Luci's kittens are growing like little weeds!  They're now running around the living room and kitchen (the only two rooms they have access to), and Luci is acting half the time like the world's best mom and the other half like the worst big sibling in the aorld.  She's still so young herself, and sometimes … Continue reading Kittens!

Freebies are always good!

Welcome to the world!

Bessie had her baby sometime in the night between Thursday's wee hours and Friday morning. When we saw her Friday evening, she was prancing all over the field. There was no bumbling around like Bindi did.   Welcome to the world, little Belle!

Monarch butterfly caterpillar     This is so exciting to me!  Last summer, I planted a bunch of wildflower seeds in the front flowerbed, … Continue reading Look what’s on my milkweed plants!

I’m on baby watch!

Jake and I noticed Bessie, Bindi, and Chantilly were all in the hoop house and wouldn't come when we called, so we turned off the electric fence and checked it out.   Bessie's membrane has broken!  We should have a calf on the ground soon!

All day on Saturday…

...Ted worked on cutting down a tree that fell across the small chicken yard and driveway.  He started working at noon, and we just finished now at 6:37 p.m.  The tree fell sometime last night during the storm and smashed down two t-posts and about 16' of fencing. Once he got the entire tree cut … Continue reading All day on Saturday…

Our very first blueberry!!!

Two years ago, I dumped a massive amount of woodchips in the chicken yard and along the outside of the fence to amend the clay soil.  Last year, we planted three blueberry bushes and two blackberry bushes along the chicken yard fence and chicken walkway.   Four of the bushes have a few berries on … Continue reading Our very first blueberry!!!
