…Ted worked on cutting down a tree that fell across the small chicken yard and driveway. He started working at noon, and we just finished now at 6:37 p.m. The tree fell sometime last night during the storm and smashed down two t-posts and about 16′ of fencing.
Once he got the entire tree cut into sections, he tossed the smallest pieces down into the woods to compost back into the forest ground, and then we hooked up the pig trailer, and the kids helped us load the rest up. Ted took it up on the hill and put it over there to compost.
Ted got the t-posts and fencing fixed, and the chickens (who stood inside the coop and watched us work all day like we were their free entertainment) came out and picked through all the fallen leaves, twigs, and branches…
… like it was the buffet at Golden Corral.
I don’t know if you can tell in these pictures, but the tree is missing where you see all the sunlight in this picture. It was as tall as the tallest one in this picture and my arms barely fit around the trunk at chest height. It was a BIG TREE.
Ted says if this one in this picture falls, we’re calling a tree service. LOL
