I wandered into Big Lots yesterday after getting a haircut, and they're having a big sale - 35% off mostly everything! I found this beautiful glass hanging birdbath and decided to add it to the bird feeders on my porch. It's so pretty! It was less than $10 on sale!
summer
Thank you, Gramma!
It's always been a running joke that I had a black thumb. I loved planting things and having flowers, but Gramma always came up weekly and reminded me which ones to water and fertilize. She sometimes just did it all herself. Most of my plants died every summer, and only a pothos lived inside (I … Continue reading Thank you, Gramma!
Sweet & Smoky Salmon
We love the Cedar Bay Sugar & Spice Salmon that's sold at Kroger. It was a nice splurge at the grocery store when on sale, but it's recently been running upwards of $21 - $24, and that's just way too high. I pulled some salmon out of the freezer tonight and started looking for a … Continue reading Sweet & Smoky Salmon
It’s been a long time…

Yummy treats
Every summer, my inlaws plant a little patch of corn. My mother-in-law freezes what they can't eat, and then my father-in-law cuts down the stalks and brings them to our cattle. Bessie (left) and Tilly (right) 8/21/21 They sure do love them!
Happy birthday, Teddy!
Teddy, you're 26 years old today. I don't know where the years have gone; it feels like they flew by. I'm pretty sure that yesterday you were running away to Gramma Izzie's house down the hill and smashing into Janeesa's dollhouse of Barbies with your Godzilla action figure and sitting on the counter, eating sugar … Continue reading Happy birthday, Teddy!

Is everyone else still eating a lot of comfort foods because of COVID-19, or is it just me? I feel like it might just only be me, and everyone else in the world is being super fit and exercising like crazy and eating salads and counting macros...and I'm over here still baking homemade breads and … Continue reading Cookie tip – how to freeze dough
Blackberry cobbler recipe
We have two blackberry bushes in our front yard. We did have three, but Ted drove over one when we were loading pigs one time, and it snapped the canes off at the ground, never to return (too bad because that was a big blackberry bush!). This summer, one of those two bushes has taken … Continue reading Blackberry cobbler recipe
Fox!
I was doing dishes Saturday afternoon, looking out the kitchen window, when I saw a flash of a red tail on the other side of the fence and thought a rooster got loose. Then a second later, it came out from behind the brush, and it was a fox! It went all around the two … Continue reading Fox!
No idea what happened
Bad news: we came home from picking up feed to find a pig dead. We have no idea what happened. She has seemed absolutely fine - eating, drinking, playing with the other two, rooting around in the pasture, but she was the pig with the hernia though so we think that may have caused some … Continue reading No idea what happened
