DG and Puppers love romping in the snow every morning for about thirty minutes. Then they're done, and they just want to bask in front of the fireplace the rest of the day... ...and steal scarf beg for eat snacks because...well, you know, SNACKS! LOL Yum!
winter
Baby, it’s cold outside!
Ted insisted on shoveling the sidewalk and plowing the driveway (although that didn't happen because the battery was out on the tractor), and Jake insisted on playing in the snow. They're nuts! I put by two weeks of groceries, the fireplaces are roaring, and we have Netflix and a popcorn machine. I already did the … Continue reading Baby, it’s cold outside!
Snowpocalypse
Everybody was tagging snowpocalypse last night on Facebook and Twitter (at least it seemed that way to me). I'm not sure how others fared nearby, but here's the results of the winter storm here at Striving Acres. The snow has stopped, and as of 10a.m. this morning, we have a total of 8.25 inches of … Continue reading Snowpocalypse
Nope!
A light drizzling snow started falling this morning. It came down for two hours, and it doesn't show signs of stopping. Little explorer
Lucy isn't afraid of anything in the world except party horns (on New Years Eve). She isn't afraid of the dogs; she jumped on a sleeping Puppers and then fought her, standing on her hind legs, all the way across the living room when Puppers let her know she didn't appreciate being woken up so … Continue reading Little explorer

They figured it out!
Bitsy and Dixie have been flipping over their feed trough on a daily basis. I didn't think this was such a big deal because pigs like to root, and I just figured they would root around on the ground and eat up the spilled mash. I was completely wrong! They left it on the ground, … Continue reading They figured it out!
Happy New Year!
From our little farm to you!
Yum!
Today, a recipe for Apple Cider and Bacon Pork Chops came across my newsfeed on Facebook. I had all the ingredients so decided to give it a try for dinner tonight. Everything was going well until I realized the kids drank all the cider and didn't tell me! I improvised with chicken broth, and it … Continue reading Yum!
Prepping a summer project
During that super warm weekend, Ted hooked chains to these two old tractor tires (found while bulldozing three acres for pasture), and he moved them where I wanted them. The plan is that these tires will beautify our barn area this spring and summer. We're going to fill them with marigolds and maybe a few … Continue reading Prepping a summer project
