In my living room…

When you farm, it's pretty much common place to have something going on at all times with at least one animal.  Today (Thursday), I had a first time occurence. I let the chickens out to free range, picked up Sahara from school, and heard her say this when she exited the van at home: "You've … Continue reading In my living room…

Rising water

The snow is beautiful, but when it melts, this is what happens... Then add in two days of rain last week, and this is what happens... See the edge of the road near the bottom of the photo? The water from the pond in the background was almost over the road and bridge. This was … Continue reading Rising water

On furlough

Sunday was absolutely gorgeous here! We spent almost four hours outside doing little chores that built up over the winter. The chickens got to head into the paddock for the day. He had to bust up the ice - even with the heaters - with a big 2x4. I just keep reminding us all … Continue reading Winter water

Relax…

...with a good book!  I also highly suggest doing so with an excellent cup of coffee and a loyal dog and a crackling fire by your side! I won this coffee cup in a library summer reading program held for adults a few years ago. I was so excited for that program. It didn't make … Continue reading Relax…

Garden time!

Even though it looks like this outside my front door right now (with 4"-8" more expected today!!!), I'm getting some things going for my garden! What could I possibly do with an old ice cream bucket? I can start a little compost in it!!!  I'm clabbering a little milk for my hens in one milk … Continue reading Garden time!
