One of those many projects I am working on this week: I threw down two huge packets of wildflower seeds in this flower bed and busted open an old pie pumpkin and scattered those seeds. Then bricks were set down with cardboard and a little foam on top of them and two old sliding glass doors were laid on top. This accomplishes two things: it keeps the chickens from scratching out and eating all the seeds, and hopefully it will have a mini greenhouse effect on the ground, warming it up faster than normal, and protecting the growing seedlings from any frost until Mother’s Day.
It’s not very pretty to look at but hopefully it will do the job. That’s what this experiment will determine!
Here’s hoping that it works!
