Ted and I made a four hour round trip today to pick up 28 new hens. They are young five month old pullets, and they are just gorgeous and SO DOCILE AND SWEET! They should all start to lay eggs by late May. My goal is to have farm fresh eggs from pasture raised hens … Continue reading New girls!

A little act of kindness goes a long way
I posted on Kroger's Facebook page last night, and in less than 24 hours, there have been over 1,500 likes on it! The comments have all been so positive, too. It got me to thinking: we're all so quick to post the negative, but I'm betting far more positives happen to all of us. Let's … Continue reading A little act of kindness goes a long way
Elfie and Elfis escapades
Jake has been taking photos of the elves with the iPad and texting them to me. The elves also brought Brownie mix one day after school and a Lego Advent calendar for Jake one morning. He's really having fun with them this year!
Library problem
Ted says I have a library book problem. I was putting away the books on the "public library books shelf" at home (What? Doesn't everyone have a library book spot at home??), and he saw THE LIST. THE LIST is what our library prints and gives out to show you what you have checked … Continue reading Library problem
Fun Christmas Activity-filled Day
Jake and I have had a blast today. First, we went to his school, and he enjoyed an hour at the Willy Wonks themed fun house on one side of the school while I did a little craft shopping on the other side. I even got a door prize that matched an item I bought … Continue reading Fun Christmas Activity-filled Day
Elfie and Elfis are up to shenanigans again!
I set Jake up with the Text Now app on the iPad so he could text his Dad, sisters, brother, and me. These are the past two texts I've received from him. LOL I'm really making myself slow down and enjoy it this holiday season. Jake is 10 years old now, and I know this … Continue reading Elfie and Elfis are up to shenanigans again!
Elfie and Elfis are back!
They were hiding out in Jake's shoe bin. He found them whIle getting ready to go see Santa at Michael's Ice Cream Shoppe. He was thrilled to see them again. We headed to the ice cream shoppe tonight for ice cream and Santa. This is a tradition Jake and I just started last year when … Continue reading Elfie and Elfis are back!
It’s cooking!
It's 6:39 a.m., and I've been up since my oldest pulled in the driveway at 3 a.m.! That was a wonderful surprise because she originally said she couldn't get away from work to make the drive here. The sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes are all cooking, and the dough for the Parker house … Continue reading It’s cooking!
Love of my life
Almost 30 years together, and I still get butterflies when he holds my hand, kisses me, and falls asleep on me like this!
Veterans’ Day and Christmas prep
My school is off today in celebration of Veterans' Day. Jake has been sick for two days, so last night I made sure no alarm was set on my phone, and I slept in this morning!!! That was GLORIOUS! I feel ready to tackle the world! First things first - making a wonderful dinner for … Continue reading Veterans’ Day and Christmas prep
