Something new on the farm
While working on the flowerbed around the koi pond this past weekend, Ted found this little guy. We had no idea what he was, and then I remembered that I'd downloaded an app called Seek earlier. I took a picture of the little guy with the app's camera feature, and it immediately identified him as … Continue reading Something new on the farm
EASTER CHICKS!!!
Ted holding the first chick to hatch for us in 2020 I haven't hatched eggs out since the spring before Gramma Izzie got sick and died (two years ago on April 25th). It was something I did every year that she just dearly loved. Often, I'd have to give state testing to students on hatch … Continue reading EASTER CHICKS!!!
Winter has arrived
The little fish pond waterfall is barely trickling, and that is ice you see formed against the plants. The fish will slow down more and more until they finally settle in the bottom of the pond until warm weather comes in the spring.

My beautiful porch view
I love the beautiful view from my porch today...flowers, a calming waterfall, colorful fish, and chickens enjoying some watermelon! I love working from home. I get to sit here on my porch and enjoy all of this while completing annual teacher training online. It's so peaceful!
Fish time!
Today Ted is catching the fish in our fish pool and transporting them over to the new fish pond in the front yard. We have fish in our swimming pool because one time when we were on vacation, the house sitter called and said a storm tore up the little fish pond liner and our … Continue reading Fish time!
A sneak peek at the current project
Earlier this week, Ted and I worked on the current project for a little while. We had to do some measurements and then find exactly what we needed to fit. Then we had to figure out some materials. Puppers took over a supervisory role. Ted and I got up early this morning and headed out … Continue reading A sneak peek at the current project
Yep. I can grow a jungle!
Unfortunately, Ted has to deforest it once it starts taking over the flower bed and sidewalk! Poor guy... That project that started with the backhoe project last week is now in phase two, and once it's finished, it will cut his weedeater workload way down every weekend!
A new project…
...is going right here in front of the front porch! On a side note, I have added "Get a backhoe" to the list of things I really really REALLY want! Ted says I really need to win the lottery. LOL
