“Risk more than others think is safe.
Care more than others think is wise.
Dream more than others think is practical.
Expect more than others think is possible.” -Claude T. Bissell
When I brought home that little calf who grew up to be Bessie, the matriarch of our herd, people thought I was nuts. Now we have a small working farm, and within the next twelve months, we will have beef to sell for the first time ever. It will be six years in the making. It was a big risk, and it paid off!
When I brought Puppers home, she was two days old. People thought she’d die for sure, but I held onto faith that she wouldn’t. I hand raised her, and she is the most faithful of any animal companions I’ve ever had.
When Ted got involved with my farm dream, he began to add to it. Now he has more ideas for it than I do, and he’s always dreaming about what we will do next to become sustainable and give back to our community.
That last photo goes so well with that last sentence. Teddy decided to catch the fish in the old swimming pool pond with the net, and we were convinced he’d never get near one. He caught one in less than five minutes! So always, expect more than you think is possible!
