After Thanksgiving there is so much turkey leftover! Almost every blog and site lists leftover turkey recipes, and I’ve noticed a lot of them are getting more and more Complicated.
Not here- no, here I like to Keep it simple. I have kids, a husband, a house, and a mini-farm to run. Oh yeah- and a job teaching first graders!
This is the simplest yet best recipe you will find using turkey leftovers.
You need:
turkey carcass
Crockpot
water

That’s it! Just stick the turkey bones in the Crockpot and cover it with water. Cook it on low overnight.

Remove the bones and meat scraps and strain the broth into a big bowl.
Cool it in the fridge and then bag and tag it and freeze it to use in all those other gourmet recipes later… or, you know, just some good soup!
I got 1 1/2 quarts of broth from mine this year!!!
If you’re feeling really ambitious, toss the bones back in the crockpot and cover it with water and about a 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar,

and cook it on high for @ 72 hours. You can completely pulverize the bones into a paste to use in dog treats..or to hide the flea pill so your dog actually takes it instead of spitting it out. Don’t cook it dry though and crack your crockpot. That’s another post!
