We stopped today to settle up with Ronnie for the winter hay and the side of beef we purchased from him, and out of the blue, he asked what we're going to do with Beef. We've been discussing what to do for over a month, and we reached the decision that we were either selling … Continue reading Big decision made

Big pigs!!!
I took these photos to show the size of our pigs now. Remember, these two fit in a small dog cage when we brought them home in late October! They are standing in about six inches of mud here (Ted made them a big mud hole a couple of days ago because it was so … Continue reading Big pigs!!!
Oops!
The new driver in the house needs to practice backing up out of the driveway a little more. LOL Nobody was hurt, including chickens and turkeys. The door bracing (on the side of the little door where the hinges are) got knocked askew. With four brackets and thirty minutes, this will be good as new.
Let’s try it again
We have three bush hogs, and none of them work correctly. Ted is always messing with them, trying to fix them. YouTube is a great teacher! He's learned to do all sorts of things from there, and he's determined that he can fix these bugs. If he can get all three running and running well, … Continue reading Let’s try it again

I’m horrible at my Year of Martha
It's after mid-May. Let me repeat, it is After.Mid.May. I will never be Martha Stewart or even a close facsimile. I got all motivated when I got her magazine, and I made my calendar on a little notebook pad. Here's what I have on it: Do you know how many of the items from May … Continue reading I’m horrible at my Year of Martha
They really do love the mud…
I know I said this earlier in the week, but the pigs really do love the mud so much! I always wondered if it was just a stereotype. Now I know! It's not! This is their favorite past-time next to rolling an old log round and round in case there are grubs under it. And … Continue reading They really do love the mud…
Turkey gets “her” babies
On April 28th, Ted went by Rural King on the way home from work and picked up four turkey poults. One of the turkeys went broody a few weeks back and set a nest of chicken eggs. Unfortunately, we think her temperature was high, and so she actually just spoiled the eggs instead of getting … Continue reading Turkey gets “her” babies
Filling the freezer!
It's no secret that the absolutely best meat that you can get is the kind that's raised the old-fashioned way and the way the animals were meant to be treated on a farm, not from one of those confined animal feeding operations where they don't see the light of day and don't feel the grass … Continue reading Filling the freezer!
Time to get serious…
My Year of Martha is NOT working! I have the best of intentions but always get sidetracked. With the school year winding down (my last day is June 15th!), I figured I need to buckle down and get serious about this so I ordered a subscription to Martha Stewart Living. It came today! YAY! The … Continue reading Time to get serious…
