I was doing dishes Saturday afternoon, looking out the kitchen window, when I saw a flash of a red tail on the other side of the fence and thought a rooster got loose. Then a second later, it came out from behind the brush, and it was a fox! It went all around the two sides of the fence by the woods, checking and testing it all the way, looking for a way to get in to grab a chicken. I watched it as it went, sneaking and keeping its head and body low, pawing at the wire and ground, but it never found a way inside. It must have known DG and Puppers were on the front porch because it stopped every few seconds and stared toward the side steps. Finally, it turned tail and ran.
We have some fence fortifying to do so we can make sure the flock stays safe!
