Hopeful Time Saver

The hog feeder we bought in Indiana is in with the pigs; Ted put 1200 pounds of feed in it, and it had room for probably 600 pounds more. The plan is to only fill it two more times before the pigs go to butcher. This will save us a lot of time this winter … Continue reading Hopeful Time Saver

New addition

Sahara found this little kitten after work a couple of nights ago in town.  He was in the concrete in the construction area. She said she had to coax him to her for 20 minutes, and as soon as she got him home she washed the concrete off of his face and feet. We were … Continue reading New addition

They figured it out!!!

These pigs are definitely more brave than any of the other pigs we've had before! The funny thing is that it's the smallest one that is the absolute fearless leader of the pack. It took them about three days to figure out that they could come out into the open area from where they were … Continue reading They figured it out!!!

We can’t believe the cattle didn’t eat this!

Ted was dragging the driveway when something in the pasture caught his eye.  He investigated, and he couldn't believe what he found (and that the cattle never are it!)! He brought it home, and it's decorating the front porch for fall!

Smartcar mileage

I've realized over the course of the past 9 months that this little car is horrible on gas mileage when it idles.  After a doctor appointment last week in the city, I sat in traffic for … Continue reading Smartcar mileage

Fish pond

Remember when Ted put fish in the swimming pool one winter? They multiplied! It's not a swimming pool anymore; now it's a fish pond! The fish range in size from thumb size to about eight inches long, and their colors are bright orange and dark brown, some with spots and some with yellowish stripes! They're … Continue reading Fish pond

C’mon, piggies!

The gate has been opened to the bigger paddock for the piglets because they've stripped all the greenery from their little area, but they still are afraid to cross where the gate was previously locked.  Now, we start the coaxing. We tried feed. They would go a little out and then right back inside. We … Continue reading C’mon, piggies!

Jake bakes a cake for Grandma Billie

Ted's mom, Billie, turned 68 today. She ran over for a visit and to drop off egg cartons and coupons to me. While she was here, Jake decided she couldn't have a birthday without birthday cake, so he decided to make her a cake.  He was naming random ingredients, so I told him to look … Continue reading Jake bakes a cake for Grandma Billie

Happy fall, y’all!

I pruned these hydrangeas from the front of the bush where it was hanging over the sidewalk. My husband and youngest daughter said it looks like I picked a bunch of dead flowers and stuck them in a bucket on the counter. I like the way they look! LOL
