In my living room right now…

My first official day off was Friday which is always spent just vegging out on the couch, binge watching tv and movies.  That morning, I found this newly hatched little chick in the coop along with two others (who didn't make it). The other chicks (two weeks old) and the three mama hens were horrible … Continue reading In my living room right now…

Happy hen pics

I love taking pictures of my hens out free ranging in the yard and forest.  They're so happy and healthy. Their feathers are sleek and shiny and thick, and their combs are brightly colored.   Their feet are clean and just beautiful.  Their eyes are alert and always on the hunt for a few bugs … Continue reading Happy hen pics

Where do your eggs come from?

Suddenly, a heavy shadow broke from the trees and drug across the chicken run like fingernails on a chalkboard! … Continue reading Chicken hawks!

Too cute not to share…

Yes, that's a hen standing on top of Eeny.  LOL. The hen and two roosters pictured live in the pig palace with the pigs.  They eat and drink with them.  I'm pretty sure they think they ARE pigs as well!

Rural King has chicks!

On the way home from our staff meeting, I stopped at Rural King.  Guess what cute feathery little fluffballs I found? Yep!  Chicks!!! There were just a few bins of them, but they were all pullets.  Farming tip: Let your local store know your name and number in case they can't sell the chicks they … Continue reading Rural King has chicks!
