Happy 28th Anniversary!

We have been married for 28 years today!  A friend found these photos (thank you, Johnna!!!) and sent them to me on Facebook; I’m so excited because we have barely any photos from our wedding (that’s what happens when you literally run away to elope and then just call everyone you know two days later and tell them to meet you at a nearby church so you can “have a wedding”! LOL)!

We were so young!!!!!  I had just turned 18 years old (the day we ran away) two days before this photo was taken, and Ted was almost four months shy of being 19 years old.  We were young and so in love though, and we were absolutely bound and determined that we were going to be together, come hell or high water – and here we are, 28 years later, still together and still in love!

I only had a wedding dress because I borrowed a prom dress (thank you, Penny!), and he’s in his Air Force uniform.  We only had a wedding cake because when we ran away on my 18th birthday, his mother said she was sure we would come back married – and she started baking and created this beautiful cake for us.  We only had a reception because Ted had worked for Rocket Pizza while he was in high school, and we went to tell the owners we’d gotten married – and when we told them we were going to have a “real wedding” in the church (even though we’d already gotten married earlier that day at a reverend’s home several counties away), they offered to host and pay for the entire reception.  Ski and Rocket Pizza for all!

Sometimes, what is meant to be is simply meant to be, no matter what anyone says or does.

I love you, Ted, and I wouldn’t trade one minute of the past 28 years of our marriage for anything else or anyone else in the world!  I will love you for the rest of my life, Ted!

This song…….I am absolutely certain it was written for us!
