Condensed Cream of Celery Soup Recipe

Don’t you just hate it when you get everything out to make a recipe and realise that you are missing one can of a cream soup? Right now with the pandemic going on still, running to the store for one ingredient just isn’t a good idea…but you can definitely make your own! This is a fast, easy, and reliable replacement for canned cream of celery soup.

  • INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • 1/4 Cup flour
  • 2 Tbl butter
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Start by measuring out all the ingredients and having them ready to use while cooking (this is a fast cooking recipe, and you don’t want it to burn!). Chop the celery into teensy tiny pieces.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and then toss in the celery and all the spices. Let this saute @ 2 minutes.

Add the flour and stir CONSTANTLY to make a roux (it will look like playdoh). This only takes a few seconds.

Add the chicken broth, STIRRING CONSTANTLY. It will thicken up like gravy VERY FAST!

As soon as it looks like gravy, add the milk while STIRRING CONSTANTLY. Seriously, keep stirring! You do not want this to scorch in the pan!

Turn off the heat and keep stirring for about two more minutes. It will thicken up and resemble exactly what comes out of the can. Remove it from the warm burner and use it in place of cream of celery condensed soup (use immediately or immediately refrigerate and definitely use within two days).
