We just had the best date/adventure EVER!
Ted found a hay scissor hi-lift on Craigslist, and after talking to the seller yesterday, we decided to go to Kentucky and buy it so we were up early, and we were off!
Our GPS is crazy and today was no different; it directed us to drive over the Ohio River to get to Kentucky! We found a ferry, and after talking about it, we decided to take it. We’ve been on boats before, but we’ve never driven our vehicle onto one! We waited by the river for a few minutes and found seashells; I had no idea there were seashells in the Ohio River! I collected a handful and some round little rocks for an art project, and then it was time to get on the ferry.
We drove onto the ferry, and we were the only vehicle on it. It was really neat going across the river that way! It did make us feel odd though to see everything moving and know we were actually still in a non moving truck!
The rest of the way was all on winding twisty roads until we found the 171 acre farm we were looking for, and there it was: the scissor hay hi-lift! After talking, he asked if we were hunting anything else, and I asked what else was for sale, and we wound up with this thing that turns the tractor into a forklift front so we can lift pallets.
I asked about a couple of trough feeders that he had outside, and we wound up with one of those for just $30! We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies going down the back roads toward home.
When we got home, we unloaded everything and then set about figuring out how to hook up the hi-lift to the rear hydraulics. Once that was figured out, Ted practiced with it and figured out how to pick up a hay bale and put it over the fence.
We had so much fun together today! This was the best adventure date ever!
