My beautiful porch view

I love the beautiful view from my porch today...flowers, a calming waterfall, colorful fish, and chickens enjoying some watermelon! I love working from home. I get to sit here on my porch and enjoy all of this while completing annual teacher training online. It's so peaceful!

First day back (so hard)

Dear Gramma, Today was my first day back for the new school year. I got up, did all the things I do on the first teacher day back, and when I finished, I was so lost. I realize now that you were such an integral part of my daily life and of my routines. It … Continue reading First day back (so hard)

Spaghetti sauce (oh so easy!)

My mother-in-law and father-in-law brought me a box of tomatoes from down on the river over a week ago. The box has been setting on my kitchen table the entire week. I felt guilty every time I looked at it, knowing that the tomatoes were going to get so ripe if I didn't do something … Continue reading Spaghetti sauce (oh so easy!)

Donating in memory of Gramma Izzie

Take one minute to watch this video; it will touch your heart! Gramma Izzie always helped feed others; everyone knew you wouldn't leave her house hungry! This is Ted's fun now (he loves playing … Continue reading Favorite past time

I've worked so hard on our house this summer. Every time I do something different, I always think how much I wish she could see … Continue reading Gramma’s message

Do you ever stop and think about how different our lives are compared to those of our grandmothers at our same ages? This morning, I: Made coffee using the automatic coffee brewer in under a minute at the push of a button Have lunch (bbq pork for sandwiches) warming in the slow cooker at the … Continue reading How different this is compared to 50 years ago

Fish time!

Today Ted is catching the fish in our fish pool and transporting them over to the new fish pond in the front yard. We have fish in our swimming pool because one time when we were on vacation, the house sitter called and said a storm tore up the little fish pond liner and our … Continue reading Fish time!

Another first without Gramma

Gramma and I always made a big thing out of buying our flowers for our porches every year. We'd go to several places and make a whole day out of it. As she got older and couldn't stand all day trips, we'd make it a "flower week" and hit a different place each day to … Continue reading Another first without Gramma
