The high school marching band had their annual fundraiser car wash this past Saturday, and the kids were asked to bring an item for the bake sale as well. This is what I made and sent:
Caramel and Dark Chocolate Dipped Sea Salt Marshmallows
Ingredients:
1 bag caramel chips
1 bag dark chocolate chips
1 bag large marshmallows
A small amount of sea salt
Cupcake liners and toothpicks
Wax paper or parchment paper to set them on as you dip them the first time
HOW TO:
Melt the caramel. I used the microwave to do this.
Stick a toothpick in each marshmallow and dip each into the caramel, coating most of each one.
Set these on the wax/parchment paper and then into the freezer for 15 minutes to set.
Melt chocolate. Again – microwave for me!
Dip a caramel coated marshmallow into the chocolate QUICKLY (or you’ll remelt the caramel!) and then set into a cupcake liner and immediately sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt.
These are DELICIOUS! I had some left over from the bake sale and sent them to band with Sahara on Monday. The kids ate them all. This is a good recipe! I’m counting it as a success in my Year of Martha endeavor.
PS. Best part – it takes about 30 minutes (counting the 15 in the freezer for the caramel) to make two dozen of these, start to finish!
