That’s your water truck, Mom!

I have the funniest daughter in the world. Sahara has the best and snappiest comebacks ever. It's like a comedy routine, and she never cracks a smile which makes it funnier. I was talking with her the other day and said something about how I had to clean the garage because it's starting to look … Continue reading That’s your water truck, Mom!

It’s the little things…

...that make you love someone.  Grand gestures are fun, but it's the day to day little things that reveal the true character of a man's heart. The little things he thinks nobody notices - those are the things that bind you to him because you DO see them. Ted mentioned last week that someone had … Continue reading It’s the little things…

Teddy is 20!

My oldest boy turns 20 today! ...except he's not a boy anymore though. He's a married man, a hard worker, and always willing to help his family and friends. I am very proud of the man he's become! Happy birthday,  Teddy! I love you!!!

Homemade guacamole

I made homemade guacamole for the first time ever, and it was so easy and so delicious I'll never order it again! This was the whole dinner (homemade burritos, homemade cheese sauce, local sweet corn, GMO free blue nacho chips, and homemade guacamole). YUM!!! For the guacamole,  I just scooped out two avocados, added half … Continue reading Homemade guacamole

Back to school

Back to school time is always so busy for me for several reasons. I teach online so my school starts back the beginning of August. It's too soon; it's right in the middle of canning season for me which yanks that to a screeching halt five days a week (and then I play catch up … Continue reading Back to school

Jake’s learning list

Jake and I made up his learning list before bed tonight. These are all things he's very interested in and wants to know more about. I've done homeschooling this way the majority of the time with all four of my kids. This works so well because it builds on the child's interests. I'll take this … Continue reading Jake’s learning list

Little farm hand

I think I have the cutest little farm hand in all of America! He helped me dig out the holes for these three stepping stones. This is going to be an eclectic hodgepodge walkway with low growing mosses between all the rocks, pottery, and concrete pieces, and there will be wildflowers all around the front … Continue reading Little farm hand

Lesson planning

On the day of the doctor appointment,  I also stopped at Target and found lots of teacher goodies in their Dollar Spot. If you homeschool and have older kids in activities, you know how it is doing some schooling in the car during hour long practices. I love using the iPad for math and spelling … Continue reading Lesson planning

Look what I found at our farmers’ market!

I am so happy that our local farmers' market is growing every year. Today I found a wonderful source for stoneware pottery - all locally thrown, painted, and personalized by hand! The tables were overflowing with beautiful pieces,  and I couldn't take them all in fast enough because every time I felt myself eyeballing one … Continue reading Look what I found at our farmers’ market!

Sometimes things just happen

Today will not have anything exciting going on at my farm. I did get everybody fed and watered, but that's it. The little chick got down from the nest and made such a scattered mess of the wood chip hill that she couldn't get back in there. It was too high. I had to move … Continue reading Sometimes things just happen
